Their history began with the Crusades, around the year 1118 and lasted for approximately 200 years. They had significant support from the Roman Catholic Church, which is embodied in the figure of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. Although they began as a poor monastic order, which was supposed to assist the pilgrims in the Holy Land, for several decades, they have helped the Roman Catholic Church become the most important financial institutions in the Middle Ages.
The main question is what is it that has managed to keep them for such a long time in history? The general opinion is that during their stay in the Holy Land they have found the Holy Grail in the basements of the Temple of Solomon. Nobody knows for sure what the Holy Grail actually is. Some say it is the chalice of the Last Supper, others are speaking about the Ark of the Covenant or the lance that pierced Jesus Christ.
However it may be, the Holy Grail is the physical proof of the existence of Christianity. Whether that was what made them powerful for decades or not, remains a big question, because Philip IV abolished them in 1312, when he killed the Grand Master Jacques de Molay.

Very interesting
Not as much info as I thought would be in the book
Over the years, the Knights Templar has captured the imagination of writers, poets, film-makers and philosophers. In this book, Richard Dyson lays out in detail the truths and myths of these legendary group of knights. It is a well-research short read for anyone wanting to quickly acquire knowledge about this legendary group. Fascinating new facts about this wealthy and prominent military order and their secret society are revealed, much of which I was previously unaware of.
A valuable quick-reverence tool for anyone writing or researching his time period—worthy of five stars.
This wasn't anything but an overall outline of events. It can't have been more than 20 pages. I don't think author will make his fortune writing.
A short but interesting story of the Templars. A good introduction to one of the most influential organisations in history and possibly of the present ?
I was pleasantly surprised by this book, as it's not the typical subject matter that I read about. Very well written, very interesting and informative. As a history buff, I will explore this subject more now. Good read!
I felt that is was a quick easy read that just gave a few facts. It did not go in depth, nor did it tell me anything I did not already know. For the price, it is ok, but I was disappointed.
